What To Do When You Are Tempted To Cheat

It can be agreed that cheating is very likely as old as marriage and looks like it will not be going anywhere soon which is a bitter pill to swallow especially for faithful partners who find themselves in committed relationships with renowned cheaters.

Cheating wreaks huge havoc amongst partners and for some whenever the partner cheats, it is irredeemable.

Some of the people who cheat on their partners indeed transitioned into the act unintentionally but what you should have at the back of your mind is that there is no excuse for cheating, whether you are an experienced cheater, a mid-level cheater, a junior cheater, a recruit or cheater-wanna-be you have to be accountable for your actions.

It is possible to find yourself attracted to another even if you are in a relationship with the love of your life. It is not a problem when you do, the problem is how and what you do when that happens.

If you have no idea here are things you can do to fight the temptation
to cheat:

1. Find the root cause

No one wakes up with the thoughts of cheating on someone they love deeply except for those who have cheating as a career goal. There is always something leading to the time the thoughts begin to waft into your mind, you need to reflect on the desires that are coursing through your body.

It is possible you are no longer satisfied with your partner at home but the Hercules or Wonder woman at work, church or the club makes you feel a different type of way and it is possible that you and your partner have been fighting a lot lately. You have to first acknowledge the motivation behind your feelings for someone else then find possible ways to address it because every single time you displace it with ‘there is nothing there' ‘he is just helping me' ‘she is just being a good friend' you dig your cheating pit more and more.

2. Converse with your partner

It is necessary to talk to your partner about how you truly feel especially when the desire is becoming untameable this goes to show that you do not want to cheat on your partner and also want to work through the desires. It takes two matured minds to have this conversation without blowing things out of proportion.

Your partner might not take it well and assume you have been cheating while your partner will help you through it by having you both channel new energy into making the relationship work. If the conversation is not helping then you need to evaluate the
relationship and see if you still want to be with your partner or someone new because it is better to walk away instead of cheating on your partner.

3. Talk to a friend

When you find yourself in sticky situations with someone that is not your partner, reach out to a trusted friend that will talk you out of what you are about to do. Do not call the your-partner-can-never-find-out friends as they will only lead you astray.

4. Stay away from the crush

Stay away from the one that is blowing your mind and is not your partner, try to avoid sticky situations where you find yourself alone with him/her because that is a red flag. If you cannot avoid the crush, maybe because you work at the same organization or even on the same team then you have to make sure there is always a third, fourth or fifth party available when you have to be or work with him/her.

5. Consequences

If you are tempted to cheat, think about what happens next, how will you feel if your partner walks in on you and your accomplice? If you feel your partner will join in the jamboree then continue but if you know that hearts will be broken, tears will be shed and blood will be spilt then you have to have a rethink.
