What To Do If You Don't Like Your Engagement Ring

Getting proposed to is such a romantic experience. It's even more memorable when your fiance does exactly what you imagined/dreamed of for your engagement.

However, some things might not just cut it; like you not being comfortable with your ring. Of course, there are so many reasons why this may occur. You also have to understand that it may not necessarily be your spouse's fault.

Whatever the cause, here's what you should do when you don't like your engagement ring:

Give It Time

You may need a couple of days to be sure you're not in sync with your ring. Before you tell him, wear it around and see whether it will grow on you. Love, at first sight, may not always be the case for some rings. Rather than depend on first impressions, take your time to think about it ahead of your final decision.

Be Honest About It

Agreed, it may be a mood spoiler in some situations. However, being honest about your thoughts on the ring shows that you respect your relationship and your spouse.

Besides, you don't want to be trapped in something you don't like if you end up wearing it every day of your life.

Replace Or Exchange

If you have decided that the ring doesn't just reflect your personality, you and your partner can change it or make an exchange.

You may find someone who is truly excited about your ring. In this case, you should consider selling it to them. If this isn't an option, go to the jewellery store for an exchange or a replacement. Replacements may require you pay a little extra.

Tweak It

Why not do something a little more personalised? Rather than completely discarding the ring recreate it with all of the things you love. You can work with a jeweller that's great at altering designs. It may be worth the try!

If It's About A Bigger Rock, Don't Say Anything

Your partner may have put a lot of effort into getting you the ring. You telling them the rock isn't big enough will make them feel inadequate. You'll also negatively affect their self-esteem.

Imagine having to go through the stress of getting someone a gift and they don't like it. The horror!

Focus on the love and respect your relationship has instead. In the end, a big rock isn't close to the worth of what your love life is!
