Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Spring 2016

Against a wall of candy-colored blossoms, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo professed their love for peonies and tulips, ivy leaves and roses, which they delicately hand-painted, sculpted or appliquéd on dresses in retro silhouettes. This required no small effort judging from an apricot siren dress’ cascading trail that was entirely composed of petal-shaped feathers. The collection oscillated between dazzling ball gowns and sassy, deluxe lingerie. A series of corseted bustier, evoking Fifties pinup glamour were softened by breezy silk chiffon night robes or luscious opera coats. It was all familiar territory for the brand, including the dramatic finale: A bride, who required the help of six aides to turn around in a gown with maxi kimono sleeves and a three-meter train, embellished with silver bullion, pearls and crystals.
