Who says it’s only the ladies that have to get into formation for the big day? Upcoming grooms and their squad also have to prepare for the big day without the perception of losing any masculinity.

Let’s face it, looking good is good business and even better when you are about to marry the love of your life. If the bride goes through a huge ordeal to look good for her groom, then the groom should do the same.

Here’s some insight into the ultimate men’s’ grooming guide:

Shaving

One to two days before the wedding is an ideal time to shave or trim your beard if you have one. For a stubbed look, two days is an ideal time because it shows the first signs of regrowth. A cleaner look would require a shave the night before or morning of the wedding. A great aftershave for conditioning and fragrance should closely follow.

Manicure

The trend of keeping long nails on one hand or the pinky finger is not representative of a certain profile of a man and does not look neat. It’s time to get healthy-looking nails, neatly buffed to accommodate your new wedding ring.

Exfoliation

If you have never exfoliated, then it’s about time you did. A good exfoliating treatment refreshes the skin by eliminating a layer of dead skin cells; this is ideal for men who have oily skin and are prone to congestion.

Smelling like a Million Bucks

As far as Nigerian weddings go, you need to make sure your fragrance of the day can have you smelling fresh and ostentatious for the longest time possible. Take into consideration the fact that you are going to be by your bride for the greater part of the day. The best time to choose a fragrance is at least a week before your wedding, taking into consideration the climate of your wedding destination, how you will be dressed and the theme of your wedding.

The Winning Haircut

Now is not the time to find a new barber or try a new haircut that may take your hairline back and a few weeks to grow back. To plan properly, you need about 4 months to ascertain your winning haircut.

This may involve allowing your hair to grow out a bit before trying certain styles while gauging whether your significant other find it attractive or not. Your hairstyle could also be suited to match your wedding outfit; is your style clean and preppy with a side part or contemporary urban with lots of waves and texture?

Grooming for men should not be seen purely as a metrosexual activity but a lifestyle that should be adopted even after the wedding.
