As a guest or a close friend of the newly-wedded couple, one of the most common issue you'd face is gifting. The cost of gifting can range from as low as ₦10,000 to as high as ₦150,000,000.

With so many options, you may be concerned about how much you should budget for a gift. This article will show you aggregated prices for wedding gifts in Nigeria:

The Little Gifts

For items such as kitchen utensils (pots, pans, etc.), plastic containers, plates, blender, glass cups, perfumes and some bathroom items like towels, face and body glow products amongst others, your budget should be from ₦10,000 to ₦150,000.

Prices fluctuate depending on the number of items you're buying.

The Big Household Gifts

If you're looking at buying the couple items like a deep freezer, refrigerator, washing machine, air-conditioner(s), microwave and other household-must-have gifts, consider having at least a ₦50,000 budget.

Since pricing also depends on the brand, make sure you get someone conversant with great brands that are within your budget.

The Maxi Gifts

Maxi gifts can range from cars, fully installed inverters, and generators. If you're about getting the bride and groom any of these gifts, make sure to budget at least ₦300,000.

It's also necessary that you're getting these gifts with/or from someone familiar with quality products.

Monetary Gifts

Gifting the couple with money is one of the most appreciated gifts. Understand that their expenses will more than often, surpass their monetary presents. So, if you would prefer to give them money than buy them gifts, consider at least a ₦30,000 budget.

Other Helpful Gifting

Other gifts such as helping with rent, investing in getting their first house, sponsoring their honeymoon, amongst others are also very thoughtful presents. Budget, in this case, differs because of location and terms and conditions.

While gifting may seem like a lot of work, putting in the research pays in the long run. It's necessary to do this if you want to avoid buying substandard products or getting scammed.
