Planning a wedding in Nigeria unlike other countries can vary because of several reasons.

For couples who want to marry this year, knowing how much a wedding ceremony costs will help you make budget plans and give you an idea of the average pricing.

Depending on your location, tribe, family background amongst others, here are some wedding ceremony price ranges to plan a budget around.

  • For Venues

The price for venues varies by location. If you live in the metropolis, you’re most likely going to pay higher than someone living in the countryside.

Prices for halls in Nigeria can cost as low as N100,000 to as high as N5,000,000. You should consider looking for cheaper venues that fall within your budget range in your specific area.

  • For Decoration

Some venues may give you referrals for event planners who also handle decoration. Charges are dependent on the size of the venue and what themes/designs you’ll be working with.

If you require extra lighting, construction, amongst others, you should expect that you’ll have to pay more. Sometimes, the price of decor can be a lot higher than your venue. Average prices start from N150,000 to N6,000,000 and even higher.

  • Catering

Food is very important at a wedding and it’s necessary that you have a good price for it. Prices will be higher or lower depending on your menu and the number of guests.

For instance, if you’re adding intercontinental dishes along with your traditional dish, you would be paying more.

For couples working on a budget, we would advise you to stick to one to four meals in your list. Depending on the caterers you use, pricing can range between N100,000 - N5,000,000

  • Introduction and Traditional Wedding

Your Introduction and the traditional wedding are solely dependent on the ethnic group you’re getting married to. Each ethnic group has a price for their bride price.

However, more research has found that the Eastern part of Nigeria tends to have a higher introduction, bride price and traditional wedding charges than other parts of the country.

You should expect to spend from as little as N50,000 to N20,000,000 in some cases. If the pricing overshadows your budget, consider bargaining the prices with your in-laws.

  • Wedding Outfits

Your wedding outfits would be cheaper if you’re renting them. However, for couples who would rather buy, consider budgeting at least N100,000 for the bride and the groom’s wears.
