First Dance Do's And Don't's

The first dance has always been a necessary part of the reception. It is the first official dance as a couple; a breathtaking experience for both the newly wedded couple and their guests.

As much as it might look easy, there are some dos and don’ts when it comes to having a near-perfect (or exceptionally flawless) first dance.

Do's

Practice

This might seem irrelevant but you need to practice your first dance months or weeks before your wedding. This way, you’d get used to the routine, thereby making it easy and effortless especially if you or your spouse isn’t a fast learner or is not as flexible.

Test Your Shoes

As a bride, you need to test your wedding shoes, make sure it is equally good and comfortable for dancing as it is for walking. No one wants a broken ankle on their big day.

Have A Song

Make sure to create your playlist before the wedding day, do not leave it in the hands of the DJ. You should at least have a song that you and your partner love.

Study the Floor Layout

It might sound or look funny but it will do you good to study the floor layout of your venue. This way, you can determine what shoes to wear, where to avoid and the perfect place to have the dance.

Don't's

Get Anxious

Getting anxious will just get you stressed. You will also not be able to do as much practice as you would have wanted. Take your mind off anxious thoughts and just enjoy every process.

Do not start lessons late

As earlier stated, practice is important which is why you must start early.

Do Not Dance For Too Long

A little choreographed dance here and there is great. However, turning it into another episode of 'So You Think You Can Dance' would just be unnecessary.

Don’t Get Drunk

It’s understandable that you may new a few drinks to help boost up your confidence, but don’t go overboard. Getting drunk for your first dance is a bad idea.

Dancing is such a beautiful experience and even better is when you’re having this experience with the love of your life.
