8 Things Every Wedding Guest Should Know

Weddings are beautiful but they also tend to portray people in their best or worst forms. It is cool to be giddy and thrilled about attending a wedding but it is not an avenue for you to lose your well-nurtured self.

Wedding guests need to know that they have a part to play. No matter how perfectly planned a wedding is, a guest’s action can disrupt it.

Since you do not want to be a spoilsport, here are 8 things you need to have at the back of your mind when attending a wedding:

You're Not The Event Planner

You have to understand that if the couples wanted your services they would have hired you. Do not go around changing their plans and giving your orders to the ushers, bouncers, MC e.tc.

If you are given a seat number just do the right thing and head to your seat it is not right if you change your seat just because the one assigned isn’t as great. It is not your wedding and it is just for a few hours or at most 24 hours.

Plus One Rules

It is rude when you bring your guest to a wedding without informing the couples.  Respect them enough to let them know beforehand.

Not A War Zone

Many guests fight for everything at weddings. From food to souvenirs down to catching the bouquet. Catching the bride’s bouquet does not have to be violent.

No Noise

This is annoying because if the noise was at the heart of the couple's plan, they would have had their wedding or reception at the marketplace. It is annoying when you have to watch your wedding video and all you hear is unashamed noise making from your guests.

You Don't Have The Photographer's Job

This cannot be overemphasized, let the photographers do what they are paid for do not block all corners with your phone in the couple's face at all times. There will be a time for you to have a shot at your photography career, be patient.

Ceremony Matters Too

I wonder how guests go to receptions only and claim to have attended a wedding. Just in case you are unaware, most times there is a ceremony prequel to the reception. Try your best to be there

It's A Wedding, Not A Brewery

Be cautious of how you drink. It will only make the couple unhappy when they see their guest in a drunken and misbehaving state.

Zero Room For Criticism

Remember that not everyone can be pleased. Do not go to the wedding with an attitude similar to that of the Grinch. It is not nice to criticize everything you see.

Don't try to criticize the couple's outfit, the sort of lighting, the song chosen for the first dance or the tasteless food and crooked chairs. If you think you will fall ill without critiquing, then take a bottle of chilled wine and calm down or do not bother going to the wedding at all.

Being at your best behaviour will allow you to enjoy every single moment.
