Being part of a bridal party is a huge job especially for friends who will have two weddings; traditional and white. The hustle and bustle leading up to the wedding day especially in Nigeria is quite an ordeal and is not for the faint-hearted. Here are seven acts of support that you can provide to the bride on her big day:

Moral support

Comfort your bride because she will feel like she’s going through turmoil. Just be ready to extend your shoulder for her to lean on.

Emergency Sewing Kit

Anything can happen, everyone needs to be prepared to help each other out in case their fellow bridesmaids’ dress pops at the seams or have an uncooperative zip.

Substitute Glam Squad

Someone should have the responsibility of ensuring everyone is ready on time before the wedding to take pictures and to head to the ceremony venue. It’s best to make alternative arrangements for hair and makeup to avoid disappointments.

Handy Phone Credit and Power Bank

Another act of service may be to safeguard the bride’s phone so she does not get overwhelmed on the wedding day; acting as an intermediary between the bride and the rest of the world is an important job. Whatever she needs, she gets! All phones should be charged before the day starts and power banks should be accessible on standby.

Assist with Wardrobe Change

Make sure someone has been allocated the responsibility of getting the bride changed into her alternative outfits. Someone may be in charge of her shoes while another person would have access to her reception and after-party dress.

Picking Money

Wedding receptions are all about spraying so as bridesmaids you have to get ready to pick the local and international currency; if you’re lucky, you may pick only an envelope. Be sure to get at least four small bags that can be secured with zips and arrange to have one large bag to pour in all the proceeds in a safe place when the others get full.

Arrange for Signature Cocktails

Need something to calm everyone’s nerves? Get a bartender to cater to your group in the morning or after the ceremony to get everyone in a happy mood. Shall it be Whiskey or Champagne based? That is the question!

When it has all been said and done, it’s time for you ladies to have fun because the after party is your real party. Are we forgetting anything? Be prepared for anything on your friend’s special day.
