Have you started to think about alternatives to having a big wedding in an event centre when the roads are ‘rona free? Hosting your wedding at your family home may not be such a bad idea especially if there’s space to accommodate it. This may also be a perfect idea to control the number of people that you want at such an intimate event.

Here are six tips for hosting your wedding at home:

Reserve Dressing Rooms

If you plan to change from your wedding dress to a reception dress or from one traditional outfit to the other, then you need to have a designated room to keep all outfits and accessories safe. The bride and the groom should have separate dressing rooms to make their transitions easy.

Plan For The Weather

Check the weather forecasts before deciding your wedding date because the weather can alter your event layout and even the number of people you may comfortably accommodate at home. A wedding reception in the backyard may not be able to accommodate the same layout as inside the house.

In most cases, only the union or traditional rites can take place inside the house.

Be Creative With Surroundings

Looking for a prop area or a photo booth area? Strategically choose an area of your house that brings back memories from your past or even memories that you shared together as a couple while dating.

Being creative with your surroundings could mean a flower wall by the area you shared your first kiss or where your significant other proposed.

Schedule Periodic Cleaning

Preparing your home for a wedding will involve cleaning the areas that will inhabit people the most. It is important to clear away items that need to be thrown away or are taking up unnecessary space. This will even make it easier to carry out regular cleaning on the wedding day.

Designate an Entertainment Area

This is easy for transitioning into the reception and after-party space after the main ceremony takes place. Not all invited guests will come for the ceremony itself so it's wiser to map out a larger space for entertaining.

Consider Using Your China

There are some items on the menu that you could downscale on using any crockery like finger food during the cocktail hour. For main meals, you could use the plates that you have at home and supplement with rented sets if they aren’t enough. This also depends on the number of people and the number of courses you plan to serve your guests.

Have you ever thought about getting married in the comfort of your home? Use these tips to make sure you have considered substantial topics.
