Divorce was never part of the plan, but when it happens, there is nothing that can be done to change it. Many people react differently to divorce, and it's okay if your reaction isn't as you expect. The first year after a divorce can be really hard to bear but here are five important things to do if you are struggling;

Feel The Pain

It is only human for you to feel pain. Allow yourself mourn, everyone's divorce story is different. Pain cannot be measured so feel it if you must but do not let your pain or emotion override your decisions or make you irrational.

New Hobby

Now you have the time to learn new things/hobbies. It can be anything ranging from sewing to painting etc. You might even start your own company. Do all the things you have always wished to do (tick them off your bucket list). Take this time to rediscover yourself.

Go Out

Have fun, if you do not feel like meeting new people, take the time to enjoy your own company. Have a dinner date with yourself, travel the world if you can. Spend time with family too especially when they are always available to embrace and love you regardless.

Review Your Finances

Take a look at how your finances are fairing, this is when you know how far you have eaten into your savings or not. For some, you might come out of divorce broke but it is not the end of the road for you. You can always start afresh, save and invest.

Be Happy, Stay Happy

Your happiness matters a lot. Do not bring the pains from your divorce into your new life. Learn new things about yourself, do not let self-rejection take over. Reconnect with people that always give you great joy and positive vibes.

Rome was not built in a day, take your time to heal and feel better because divorce is life-changing.
