This Year? Next Year? Sometime in the Future..

Dear Mr. Sugar, My boyfriend and I (to my knowledge at least) want to get married to each other. We both are somewhat financially secure, so day to day living as a married couple shouldn't be much of a struggle. He says he wants to get married 'earliest next year December' mind you we had this conversation in March. I don't see what's going to change between now and December so I don't see why we should wait that long if nothing significant is changing between now and then and we both feel strongly about each other. It's become such a sensitive topic that he is starting to feel 'pressured' which is far from my intentions. Why won't he commit? Am I 'mis-reading' his feelings for me?

Hi Chioma,

Go with your instincts you obviously have your doubts about your boyfriend. The first thing your boyfriend needs to do is propose to you and slip an engagement ring on your finger. If that hasn’t happened and you don’t have an engagement ring than you two are just dating and talking about the future; which doesn’t constitute much of a commitment. Similarly, men know if you are the one fairly quickly and once that light goes off there is nothing that will stop our persuit. In other words there is no such thing as pressuring a man that has every intention of marrying you. Good luck!
