Toni and Leke Banmeke

Most women can boast of only one proposal from their husbands but not Toni, she got three! The first one 'allegedly' on the night of their first date (a fact vehemently denied by Leke), the second a few months later and a third just three months later.

"...Oga (like I like to call him) strolled into the upstairs living room of my house, sweating like he had not showered in years. I was sure he was just coming from a chat with my dad downstairs (with mad AC) so I was a bit concerned about his agitated, sweaty state. To cut the long story short, he asked that we go to the supermarket to grab something and I noticed the cheesy looks on my parents’ faces who apparently he’d just asked. When we got to the mall, he knelt in the car park and asked me to marry him, and not so eloquently for a consultant ;)..." - Toni (bride) on the third proposal

Ironically they first hooked up to set up their good friends with each other, but by the end of the night they pretty much figured they were better for each other. Their initial meeting at work over two years ago finally led to their recent wedding celebrations which took place at Air Officers Mess (Engagement) and Nigerian Law School (White Wedding Reception). The events took just two months to plan with the help of event planning outfit Ruella Concepts.

Toni's Tips for Future Brides
If you can, surround yourself with family that love you and know you well enough, a planner you can talk to is also a very good idea. I am lucky to have a resourceful mother who could get great discounts, and I made great use of her :D

If I Could Do it Over...
I thank God for such a beautiful wedding and pray for a more beautiful marriage, in retrospect, I probably would have made certain needs more clear to my family..like how important it was for the wedding to remain small and my friends to be at the centre stage. But aside from that, I had a great time.
