Ronke and Oluwole's Wedding

Saturday, October 17th 2009 marked a new beginning for Ronke and Oluwole, the marital journey started at 8 a.m. with the traditional marriage.

The solemnization of the union started at noontime at The Chapel of Christ the Light Alausa Ikeja. Their celebration climaxed with a reception at The Events Centre, Agidingbi Ikeja.

They met in April 2000 through a mutual friend Niyi, starting off as friends and discovered they shared a lot of common ground. Ronke and Oluwole had both unfortunately lost their dads, their estates were right across from each other and they both were pursuing a degree in Economics at different Universities. Their eight year romance was taken to the next level after a new years eve church service in 2007, Oluwole proposed to Ronke.

More from the Bride
Though I'm not a wedding planner, wedding planning is one of my hobbies. The process started with the introduction in March 2009. Then we took counselling classes for 6 months. I also did a lot of my shopping on the internet with my friends (in the states and UK).

We decided not to use a wedding planner, my family and friends helped organize most of the major parts while I took care of the smaller details.

Challenges?
Yes, because I was not due for my annual leave, I had to wait a week to my wedding to start my leave. So I had to combine work and wedding plans together.

What would you do differently if you could do it again?
I planned for about 500 to 700 guests but over a 1000 showed up. I underestimated the number of guests so the hall was overcrowded.
