Editor's Blog: What did you do with your wedding dress?

A peek into a recent bride's closet will most likely yield a lonely wedding dress hanging in some sort of protective covering. Considering all the excitement that goes into dress shopping it's amazing how quickly 'the dress' is forgotten for whatever reason. While most women hold on for sentimental reasons, keep in mind that your dress can give the same joy and excitement it brought you, to another woman. Still not sure what to do? Here are some ideas...

Sell It: You can recoup some of your wedding costs by selling your dress (obviously for less than you bought it). There's large pool of future brides who like loads of dresses they can't afford to buy brand new.

Give Back: Alternatively, you can give to charity, though I don't know of any wedding dress drives in Nigeria (please feel free to add known ones in the comments). A good place to start may be with your church, ask if your dress can be donated to the church for a future bride.

Re-Rock it: No, I don't mean wear the same exact dress to a future function (though depending on the style of your dress this is quite possible). You can dye it, cut it, basically restyle it to wear to social functions or for something more special like big anniversaries.

Next Generation Please: You can pass it down to your future daughter....well, it's likely that your future daughter will not consider it very trendy 20 – 30 years from now. So instead, save a piece from it (a piece of the fabric, beading, or other adornments) and incorporate in her dress. This way she gets a piece of you that day, but keeps her personal style.

Keep it: It's your dress after all!

So what did you do with yours?
