100 Nigerian Couples Get Married in Arranged Mass Wedding

Earlier this year in Kano, a mass wedding took place in the Emirs palace for a hundred couples. All participants were screened and 'matched' to each other by the Islamic police, who also performed the marriage rites. The program is aimed at introducing stability in the community as all 'brides' involved are either divorcees or widows. None of the new husbands will be able to request a divorce without their wives permission.

Do you think this will actually have any positive impact on the community?

5 Years Later...Jennifer & Ivan's Vow Renewals

Their paths came close many times long before they met, their families were close friends and they both went to the same secondary school however, their destined meeting didn't happen till 2001 when Jennifer attended Ivan's fathers wake keeping in Staten Island.

“The next day I received a phone call from him and the calls just kept coming, as many as 100 a day! What can I say, he was persistent. It all paid off when he enlisted help from my sister Linda and her husband Nonso to get me interested on the first date and the rest is history. ” - Jennifer

Children and Weddings - Keeping kids engaged on your big day

Let's face it - when it comes to weddings, no one is thinking about the children. Unless they are part of the bridal party, then and only then are the poor little bride, little groom or page boy, flower girls and balloon girls considered, but only as props. I know this because I have been a little bride, a flower girl and a balloon girl, many, many, many times. I have been ignored and mostly forgotten only till it was time for photographs. No one cared if I was hungry or bored, no.
